What's the Mosaic?
The mosaic was a project started by members of the forums at maccentral.com in 2002. From a simple suggestion of a community project, the idea snowballed taking in members from around the globe, exhibitions in computer conventions and an eventual charity auction for the United Cerebal Palsy Association of America. The image on the left is the most recent mosaic project.

What's with the runny edges?
The concept for the mosaic was very simple. Each person would receive a small border of the proceeding person's work with which they would try to blend their tile. Some people chose to continue the colour scheme, some to continue a particular patterns, anything which suggested itself at the time. No one except the tile assembler knew what the mosaic looked like until the final tile was in place

The title of this tile is "Anam Cara" which means "Soul Friend" in Gaelic. Again as with the 2003 mosaic, no theme was given so most of the tiles were a stream of consciousness creation.

The tile was created on my old workhorse G4 with Photoshop 6 and a touch of Painter Classic added to the mix. I had three sides to blend with the previous mosaic artwork with no idea what had been created. I ended up placing a crocodiles head on top of a DNA strand which probably is a metaphor for something if you think hard enough.
